A police report submitted in court has disclosed that a total of 32 FIRs have been registered against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi across the province.

The report was presented in response to a petition filed by Elahi, seeking details of both old and new cases against him. According to the Punjab Police, 15 cases have been registered in Lahore, including those related to the May 9 riots, 4 in Faisalabad, 1 in Attock, 1 in Gujranwala, and 11 in Rawalpindi.

During the hearing, Justice Nadeem remarked that the matter should be closed. However, Elahi’s counsel objected, arguing that the police report was inaccurate and contrary to the facts.

Requesting time to present further arguments, the counsel maintained that he had strong reservations about the details provided. Accepting the request, the court adjourned the hearing until March 10 for further arguments. In his petition, Elahi claimed that the cases against him were politically motivated, aimed at harassing and humiliating him despite his alleged lack of involvement.

He further stated that his repeated requests for information regarding pending cases and inquiries had gone unanswered.

Elahi urged the court to direct the relevant authorities to provide him with the complete details of the FIRs and inquiries to prevent any unexpected arrests. The case will be taken up again in the next hearing.

Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) extended the interim bail of PTI leader Musarrat Jamshed and her husband Jamshed Iqbal Cheema until March 22 in multiple cases related to the May 9 riots. ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill presided over the hearing on the bail petitions of the couple who appeared before the court upon the expiry of their interim bail. Police informed the court that investigations into the cases had been completed and that the couple’s arrest was required.
