LAHORE: Almost six in every 10 residents of Punjab approve of the performance of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and her government, The News reported citing the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR).
The IPOR survey, conducted between February 3 and 18, 2025, gathered responses from over 6,000 individuals across all 36 districts of Punjab.
The findings revealed that 62% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the provincial government’s performance, while 17% indicated dissatisfaction. Another 21% described the government’s performance as acceptable, and 1% did not respond.
In the survey, 59% of citizens were satisfied with CM Maryam’s performance, while 24% considered the performance acceptable. However, 16% of the citizens found the performance to be bad. One percent refrained from giving any opinion on this question.
The sector in which citizens were most satisfied with the performance of provincial government was education. Seventy-three percent said performance was good, while 25% said it was bad.
In the health sector, 68% said the performance was good, while 30 percent said it was bad. In infrastructure, 66% were satisfied with the performance, while 33% were dissatisfied. bout public order and peace, 67% said it was good, while 31% said it was bad. However, 63% of the citizens participating in the survey were angry with the provincial government over a lack of employment. Thirty-six percent expressed satisfaction with the performance in this sector.
On the question of governance compared to the past year, 57% of citizens said governance has improved. Seventeen percent said it has worsened, while 24% said there has been no difference in governance compared to the past year.
The IPOR further asked the citizens whether the CM has been successful in solving the public and governance problems of the province.
Fifty-seven percent answered in the affirmative. However, 36% considered her a failure in this. Seven percent said they did not know anything about it.
