Pakistan restricted to 135 as batting woes continue in rain-hit T20I against New Zealand

Pakistan’s handed a mediocre 136-run target to New Zealand as their batting faltered against the bowlers in the rain-affected second T20I at Dunedin’s University Oval on Tuesday.

The new-look Men in Green struggled once again, collapsing to 135-9 in a shortened 15-over match, as New Zealand’s bowlers dealt early blows.

Earlier, the Kiwis won the toss and opted to bowl first against Salman Agha’s side after rain reduced the game to 15 overs. The toss, initially scheduled for 1:45 pm local time, was delayed due to persistent showers.

Pakistan is currently in New Zealand for a five-match T20I series but had a rough start, suffering a nine-wicket defeat in the opening match at Christchurch on Sunday.

The first game exposed Pakistan’s batting vulnerabilities, with debutants Hasan Nawaz and Abdul Samad struggling to make an impact, scoring 0 and 7, respectively.

The collapse continued, and Pakistan was eventually bowled out for a below-par 91 in 18.4 overs.

With an easy chase ahead, New Zealand comfortably reached the target, losing just one wicket and sealing the win with 59 balls to spare.

Pakistan’s playing XI: Salman Ali Agha (c), Mohammad Haris (WK), Omair Bin Yousuf, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Shadab Khan, Abdul Samad, Khushdil Shah, Haris Rauf/Abbas Afridi, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Abrar Ahmed.
