Punjab weather to stay hot and dry over next three days | The Express Tribune

Listen to article

Temperatures are gradually rising in Punjab as a dry spell continues across the province, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

Weather experts forecast hot and dry conditions to persist over the next three days, with relatively cooler nights providing some respite, Express News reported.

Lahore and other parts of Punjab are expected to see daytime temperatures steadily increase due to prolonged dry weather.

The Met Office said minimum temperatures in Lahore were recorded around 18°C, while the maximum may reach up to 32°C.

“Dry weather will prevail across Punjab, leading to a gradual increase in daytime heat,” the department said in its latest advisory.

Despite the rise in temperature, nights are expected to remain cooler than the day, especially in urban areas where heat build-up is more prominent during daylight hours.

No rainfall has been forecast during this period, and the public has been advised to take necessary precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Moreover, the temperature in Karachi rose to 36.9°C on Friday, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting even hotter days ahead, particularly over the weekend, Express News reported.

According to the PMD, Saturday and Sunday are likely to be notably warm, with maximum temperatures expected to cross 37°C. On Friday, the city experienced intense sunlight throughout the day, resulting in noticeable heat, especially in the afternoon hours.

The minimum temperature recorded on Friday morning was 21.1°C. However, with wind speeds significantly lower than usual, the afternoon heat felt more pronounced.

The Early Warning Centre has predicted that northwesterly winds from Balochistan may blow across the city during the late morning to early afternoon over the next one to two days. Sea breezes are expected to resume by the afternoon.
