UAE’s Sanid Program trains 341 volunteers in emergency response during Ramadan

Final three courses:

  • Basic first aid – Hands-on training in life-saving techniques, including emergency response for burns, wounds, and other medical incidents.

  • Safe injury transport techniques – Teaching proper methods for assisting injured individuals without worsening their conditions during rescue efforts.

  • Firefighting and emergency fire response – Training participants in fire suppression techniques, handling flammable materials, and effectively using alarm systems during fire emergencies.

Commitment to community preparedness

Building on the success of this initiative, the Emirates Foundation remains dedicated to developing new training programs within the Sanid framework. The foundation aims to expand its reach, ensuring the sustainability of security and safety training. Additional initiatives designed to enhance community preparedness for emergency response are planned throughout 2025.

Sanid Program: A national emergency response initiative

The Sanid Program is a unique, volunteer-based emergency response program in the United Arab Emirates. Launched in 2009, it is built on internationally recognized best practices and standards. Its mission is to unite volunteers with a shared sense of social and civic responsibility, equipping them to respond to both national and international emergencies. This initiative plays a vital role in strengthening the UAE’s preparedness and resilience in times of crisis.

The program aligns with the Emirates Foundation’s strategy to empower and equip communities, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond effectively to emergencies, crises, and disasters. Through a network of certified and trained volunteers, Sanid builds civil communities capable of managing emergency situations with confidence and efficiency.

Key objectives:

  • Enhancing community preparedness by promoting effective response efforts and ensuring relief measures are in place during crises.

  • Establishing a database of trained volunteers ready to participate in emergency response operations when needed.

By fostering a culture of proactive crisis management, the Sanid Program continues to be a cornerstone of the UAE’s national emergency preparedness strategy.
