The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a countrywide alert for a possible heatwave expected between April 22 and 27, warning of dry and unusually hot weather in most regions, Express News reported.

According to the NDMA’s advisory, much of the country is likely to experience elevated temperatures and dry conditions throughout the period. The forecast is particularly concerning for Balochistan and Sindh, where temperatures are expected to remain significantly above normal.

Similar weather patterns are anticipated across much of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

However, light rain and partly cloudy skies are expected in specific districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Charsadda, Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, and Waziristan.

Gilgit-Baltistan and various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir may also see occasional rainfall during this period. The NDMA has urged local authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas at risk of extreme heat.

The public is advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and protect vulnerable individuals including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
