Three killed, five injured due to speeding | The Express Tribune



VEHARI:

A car travelling in a wedding procession from Vehari collided with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction near Ada Hafizabad Chaubara, killing three people, including the groom’s young cousin, and injuring five others.

The injured were admitted to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

The Baraat of Muhammad Zahid Sukhera from village 58WB near Vehari, was going to Nautak in Mianwali when the car collided with a car coming from the opposite direction.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the accident occurred due to speeding.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Adnan Maqbool, resident of 58WB, Basit Imran and Kashif Nadeem. The injured included Yasir Khalil, aged 30 years, Hasnain Akhtar, 27, Muhammad Farooq, 29, Ansar Ali, 27, and Mudassar Ali, 28.

Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator Wasim Hayat said both vehicles were destroyed in the accident.

When the groom returned to Pul Patha Rajbah with the body of his cousin, the locality descended into gloom.

The bodies were shifted to the Chaubara Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Meanwhile, at least nine people died, whereas 1,404 were injured in 1,205 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of these, 571 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 833 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority (75%) involved motorbikes.

Furthermore, the analysis showed those 746 drivers, 57 underage drivers, 263 pedestrians, and 504 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 234 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 287 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 70 in with 83 victims and at third Gujranwala with 69 RTCs and 75 victims.

According to official data reveal that 1,413 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1,148 males & 265 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 306 were under 18 years of age, 719 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 388 victims were reported above 40 years of age.
