In a statement issued on behalf of the Christian community of Pakistan, Senator Khalil Tahir Sandhu has strongly condemned the recent cowardly and unprovoked attacks by Indian forces targeting innocent Pakistani civilians, including women, minors and even mosques.
“These heinous actions, carried out on May 6, 2025, constitute a gross violation of international law, human rights, and religious sanctity.
Among the most alarming incidents was the Indian shelling in Neelum Valley, which not only damaged civilian areas but also directly struck the NeelumJhelum Hydropower Plant – a civilian infrastructure project protected under international conventions,” he stated.
The senator said such an attack represents a flagrant breach of the Geneva Convention and constitutes a serious provocation that endangers regional peace.
“As patriotic citizens of this nation, we — Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Baháís, and Muslims of Pakistan – stand united, without distinction of caste, creed or religion, in full solidarity with the Pakistan armed forces and their constitutional role in safeguarding the sovereignty of our motherland.”
He said, “The Christian community, along with all peace-loving Pakistanis, is prepared to offer any sacrifice necessary for the defence of our beloved country. We urge the international community: this is the time to speak out.”
Senator Sandhu said it is no secret that anti-Pakistan rhetoric has long been a political tool used by the ruling BJP during Indian election campaigns to inflame nationalist sentiments and consolidate Hindu votes.
This latest aggression, timed with India’s election season, once again highlights how Pakistan is exploited as a political scapegoat.
