The Punjab government has announced that summer vacation in all schools across the province will begin on May 28, 2025.

According to a statement issued by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, the decision has been taken in view of the ongoing severe heatwave.

In addition to the vacation schedule, revised school timings have also been announced to protect students from extreme heatwave. All schools will now operate from 7:30am to 11:30am until the summer break begins.

“New school timings will be from 7:30 am to 11:30 am,” Rana Hayat announced on X. “School holidays will start from the 28th of May (28th will be a holiday).”

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh advisory warning of an ongoing heatwave across several regions of the country.

According to the advisory, temperatures are expected to rise by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal levels in the coming days. The PMD has urged the public to take necessary precautions, particularly during peak afternoon hours, to avoid heat-related illnesses.
