Pindi police flayed for ‘slow action’ | The Express Tribune

RAWALPINDI:

City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani has expressed dissatisfaction over the delayed response to land-grabbing complaints and has issued a directive to SP Rawal Division, demanding a report without fail.

The Punjab government is closely monitoring land-grabbing cases, with the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell actively tracking complaints. During a review meeting, CPO Hamdani raised concerns over the Rawal Division’s handling of these complaints and issued a formal letter to SP Rawal.

The letter referenced previous instructions from last month, which required SP Rawal to submit reports within seven days. Despite multiple reminders and meetings, reports from the Revenue Department remain pending. The latest directive mandates the submission of the report to the City Police Office by Monday (yesterday).

Rawalpindi police had earlier informed the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell that 67 complaints were received. Of these, six complainants withdrew, two cases were resolved, four lacked sufficient evidence, 12 were criminal cases, six belonged to other districts, and 37 were under the Revenue Department’s jurisdiction.

Divisional SPs were instructed to coordinate with the Commissioner’s Office to ensure hearings and submit reports. However, due to continued delays, CPO Hamdani has now issued directives to SPs of Rawal, Potohar, and Saddar Divisions, urging immediate action.
