Punjab prisons screen Pakistan-India Champions Trophy clash for inmates | The Express Tribune

Prisoners across Punjab are able to watch the highly anticipated Pakistan vs India cricket match as authorities have arranged special screenings in all 44 prisons, including Adiala Jail.

Punjab’s Secretary of Home Affairs, Noor ul Amin Mengal, directed the Inspector General of Prisons to facilitate live broadcasting of the match, allowing inmates to enjoy the sporting event.

The initiative falls under Punjab’s prison reforms policy, which aims to promote constructive activities among inmates.

Officials say the government is working to improve prison conditions, with new industrial units and libraries being set up across various facilities.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s administration has focused on rehabilitation efforts, encouraging programs that engage prisoners in positive and productive ways.

The match is currently underway at Dubai International Stadium, with Pakistan winning the toss and choosing to bat. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan are at the crease, and the team has scored 61 runs for the loss of two wickets in 13.5 overs.
