‘Forced relationship’ behind cop’s murder | The Express Tribune

LAHORE:

An investigation into the murder of a police constable at the outhouse of former Punjab minister and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mian Aslam Iqbal has revealed that the crime was driven by a personal dispute linked to allegations of sexual coercion.

Police sources said Constable Arshad — who was arrested for the murder — has confessed to killing his colleague, Imran, claiming he was under pressure to engage in a forced sexual relationship.

Investigators stated that in his recorded testimony, Arshad alleged that the victim had repeatedly harassed him, which eventually led to a deadly confrontation.

The crime came to light when authorities discovered a decomposed body in the servant quarters of Mian Aslam Iqbal’s property in New Mozang, Samanabad.

The body, bearing gunshot wounds, was believed to be of a man aged between 30 to 35 years. Forensic teams collected evidence from the scene, while the corpse was moved to the morgue for an autopsy.

Further investigation revealed that Constable Arshad, an officer with the Organised Crime Unit (OCU), formerly known as the Central Investigation Agency (CIA), had rented the servant quarters a few months earlier.

Authorities now suspect that the location may have been used as an unofficial detention and torture facility.

While Arshad’s confession has provided a possible motive, police officials remain cautious. They noted that both the accused and the victim were known drug users, with evidence of substance abuse found at the scene. However, investigators have yet to uncover forensic or digital proof to support Arshad’s claims of coercion.
