Kuwait’s debt-settlement campaign targets $97 million in donations

Speaking to Al Anba newspaper, Al Ajmi explained that once the campaign ends, the Ministry of Social Affairs will submit a list of eligible cases to the Ministry of Justice, which will oversee the distribution of funds.

Eligibility & restrictions

To qualify for assistance, applicants must meet two key conditions:

  1. Debt must not exceed KD20,000.

  2. The applicant must not have benefited from the previous two campaigns.

Registration remains open, with applicants required to submit official documents proving their financial hardship. Each case undergoes a thorough review to ensure compliance with strict eligibility criteria.

Campaign oversight & restrictions

Now in its third consecutive year, the initiative is managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs in cooperation with charitable societies. Authorities have implemented strict oversight measures to ensure aid reaches those in genuine need.

To maintain transparency, the campaign excludes debts arising from illegal transactions, telecom bills, or informal lending sources. Additionally, only Kuwaiti citizens facing non-criminal financial obligations are eligible.
