Lahore’s weather turns pleasant with rain on first day of Ramadan | The Express Tribune

Listen to article

The holy month of Ramadan has started with a refreshing twist for Lahore and surrounding regions, as light rain showers have brought a much-needed respite from the heat.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the rain began during the pre-dawn hours of Sehri in Lahore, and continued intermittently, cooling the temperature and making the weather more pleasant.

The rain is expected to persist for the next couple of days, with the forecast predicting continued rainfall across Punjab and other parts of the region, Express News reported.

In Lahore, temperatures are expected to range between 13°C and 24°C, providing a comfortable environment for fasting during the day.

In the hill stations of Murree and Galyat, rain and snowfall are also expected, adding to the scenic beauty of the region.

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has issued an alert ahead of the rainfall, advising staff to be on standby for water drainage and to ensure swift management of any flooding that might occur due to the heavy downpour.

Previously, PMD forecasted that the persistent weather system will continue to bring rain across Punjab, with showers expected in Lahore and other districts of the province on Thursday and Friday.

Cool winds, accompanied by rain, will also bring snowfall in the mountainous areas. Lahore is expected to experience a minimum temperature of 12°C and a maximum of 23°C.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised residents and tourists to stay informed, avoid unnecessary travel, and contact the PDMA helpline at 1129 in case of emergencies.
