DIJKOT:

Four people, including a newlywed couple and a woman, died in a traffic accident while two women were injured.

The injured were shifted to the hospital after providing first medical assistance. Qayyum, 23, a resident of Sahiwal, who got married a week ago and his wife, 22-year-old Minahil, and aunt, 25-year-old Rehana Bibi, were going home from Sahiwal on a motorcycle near Majeed Chowk, Garh Fateh Shah police station area when an unknown motorcycle hit them near Majeed Chowk, Bahadur area.

They had fallen on the main road when a speeding van ran over them. As a result, Qayyum and his wife died on the spot, while Rehana Bibi was shifted to Rural Health Center Kanjwani in a seriously injured condition. The van driver fled, abandoning the vehicle.

On information Garh police reached the spot and took custody of the bodies of the husband and wife and handed them over to their heirs after necessary action.

Police registered a case against the Mazda driver on the statement of Sub-Inspector Amanat Ali and started searching for him.

In another incident, Asma Bibi, 38 and Kausar Bibi, 38 were at Adda Baghwala in Sandalbar police station area on their way to home after shopping in the city. While they were crossing the road the driver of a speeding truck coming from Aminpur Bangla hit Asma Bibi and Kausar Bibi, injuring both of them.
