Pak vs NZ ODI head-to-head as ICC Champions Trophy 2025 gets underway | The Express Tribune

Pakistan and New Zealand have built an intense One Day International (ODI) rivalry over the years, with both teams producing memorable encounters on the cricket field.

In their 118 ODI meetings, Pakistan has claimed victory 61 times, while New Zealand has secured 53 wins. One match ended in a tie, and three had no result.

A History of Thrilling Contests

The two teams first faced off in an ODI in 1973, and since then, they have clashed in multiple high-stakes encounters, including World Cups and Champions Trophy tournaments.

While Pakistan holds the edge in overall wins, New Zealand has often proven to be a formidable opponent, particularly in ICC events.

One of the most unforgettable matches between the two sides came in the 1992 Cricket World Cup, where Pakistan, led by Imran Khan, defeated an unbeaten New Zealand side in the semi-final, marking a turning point in their historic title run.

Similarly, in the 2011 World Cup, New Zealand stunned Pakistan with a commanding victory, thanks to a blistering century from Ross Taylor.

In recent years, the competition has remained fierce, with both teams displaying their strengths across different conditions.

Heading into the Champions Trophy 2025 tournament, New Zealand beat Pakistan twice on their way to winning the tri-series also involving South Africa.

Looking Ahead

With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 underway, another chapter in this storied rivalry is set to unfold.

Both teams will look to assert their dominance, making their upcoming clashes highly anticipated by fans worldwide.
