Pakistan’s Meteorological Department warned of possible heatwave-like conditions in the southern parts of the country, while predicting rainfall in the north from April 8 to 11 due to a new western weather system.
According to the Met Office, the western disturbance is likely to affect upper parts of the country starting April 8. Rainfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, and Mansehra, as well as in Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Bajaur, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Intermittent rain is also likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, and northeast Punjab during this period.
Dust-raising winds may impact plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and upper Sindh, while temperatures in parts of central and southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan may remain 4 to 7°C above normal levels.
The department has advised the public to avoid unnecessary sun exposure during daytime and increase water intake to stay hydrated. Farmers have also been urged to plan their agricultural activities in line with the expected weather conditions.
