Developed by the Abu Dhabi Government Enablement Department, the TAMM AI Assistant is a flagship initiative under the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Strategy 2025–2027. Since its launch in October 2024, the smart assistant has facilitated over 1 million messages across more than 630,000 conversations, enhancing engagement with over 950 government services in both Arabic and English.
This recognition reflects Abu Dhabi’s rapid progress toward becoming the first government globally to fully operate on artificial intelligence—an ambitious vision that aims to proactively anticipate and meet the needs of citizens and businesses with highly efficient, human-centered digital services.
TAMM is part of a broader AI-driven ecosystem led by the Government Enablement Department, targeting the implementation of over 200 AI-powered solutions across government entities by 2027. The goal: to elevate government service delivery, improve productivity, and streamline operational efficiency throughout Abu Dhabi’s public sector.
Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Government Enablement Department – Abu Dhabi, stated: “TAMM’s nomination for this prestigious international award is a testament to our unified commitment to building the government of the future—one that is smart, efficient, and designed to serve people. The TAMM AI Assistant exemplifies what’s possible when innovation is aligned with individual and business needs, and when technology is harmonized with strategic goals. Together, we are laying the foundation for a forward-ready government that anticipates needs, removes barriers, and puts people first.”
To date, over 400,000 users have interacted with the TAMM AI Assistant, which has autonomously handled 95% of incoming queries in real time. This efficiency enables government staff to focus on strategic tasks rather than routine requests.
Dr. Mohamed Al Askar, Director General of TAMM, commented:
“This global recognition of TAMM marks a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi’s digital transformation journey. It demonstrates the real impact we can make when we combine innovation, data, and collaborative effort to better serve our communities.”
TAMM has become an essential part of daily life in Abu Dhabi, streamlining access to vital government services. Its nomination for the WSIS Prizes 2025 reaffirms Abu Dhabi’s global leadership in digital governance and innovation, and highlights the pivotal role of the Government Enablement Department in shaping a future-ready, AI-driven government.
What is a smart assistant?
A smart assistant is an AI-powered program designed to provide information and perform tasks based on user input. These assistants can understand voice or text commands and interact in a way that mimics human communication. Essentially, smart assistants process and respond to information much like a human would, allowing them to take on roles such as reading texts, transcribing notes, writing code, making calls, composing music, translating words, and more.
Most smart assistants are cloud-based, meaning they’re accessible via web browsers anytime, anywhere—provided there’s an internet connection. A growing trend is the integration of smart assistants with other software tools, offering additional features and helping users automate repetitive tasks for enhanced productivity.
AI is now present in nearly every aspect of life. Smart assistants are widely used across business, education, government, software development, gaming, and more.
