BUCHIANA:

Three individuals lost their lives in a traffic accident on the M-3 Motorway near Chak 628-GB on Saturday morning, allegedly due to the negligence of a bus driver.

Rescue 1122 sources said the accident occurred when a speeding bus driver attempted a reckless overtake, forcing a 22-wheeler trailer to swerve and collide with a truck. Both heavy vehicles lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch.

The impact proved fatal for the Mazda driver and three others identified as 45-year-old Muhammad Azam of Bahawalpur, 45-year-old Farman Ali of Raiwind, Lahore, and 48-year-old Zaman of Multan. All victims died on the spot.

Following the collision, an oil leak from the Mazda truck triggered a fire. Rescue 1122 firefighters arrived swiftly and managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread further.

Rescue teams transferred the deceased to a nearby hospital. Authorities are investigating the incident, while calls are growing for stricter enforcement of motorway safety regulations to prevent such tragedies.
